Taking To The Seas With A Luxurious Hog Roast From Hog Roast Abbotsbury

After 20+ years of catering it is not often that you find yourself fully surprised by a customer call for a potential event any more, but when that call is from a Sea Captain with an enquiry into whether you can provide a catered service on a luxury motor yacht your ears certainly start to prick up. We’re used to all kinds of events and locations at Hog Roast Abbotsbury, but getting to actually hit the seas and provide luxury dining on a luxury yacht is certainly one we’ll remember for a while.

We fielded the call from Captain Handel whose boat, the Motor Yacht Gale, was providing private clients with a private boat trip and party past a dock nearby. This meant that arrangements had to be made for our Hog Roast Abbotsbury team to be picked up from the dock since the yacht was anchored out further already. It is certainly one of the more exciting ways we have travelled to a job, and we had to be extra careful in loading all of our equipment and roasting machines onto the tender boat for transport. Thankfully everything (and everyone) made it there in one piece wherein our team were then invited below deck to make use of the kitchen spaces to prep our formal hog roast dinner which would then be served on the top deck looking out to the beautiful sea views.

Hog Roast Abbotsbury Our chefs figured our formal hog roast dining experience was the best option for such a luxurious occasion, and since we were out at sea too we thought it best to start with some appropriate sea-fairing dishes. Our starter therefore consisted of an option of Scottish Smoked Salmon with Dill & Mustard Dressing & Atlantic Prawns, Bloody Mary Sauce Seasonal Leaves, Avocado, Brown Bread & Butter, or Roasted Breast of Gressingham Duck with Seasonal Leaves and Orange and Pomegranate Dressing. Then came our hog roast buffet with all of the trimmings then followed by a delicious light and refreshing Tarte Au Citron.

An incredible dinner both for our customers and the Hog Roast Abbotsbury team too who appear to have taken to the sea life quite well!
