It’s the best time of the year for a caterer, wedding season. It’s also the other best time of the year for a hog roast and fine meat catering specialist: barbecue season. Put those together and, well, you might just have the most perfect combination of all for a caterer like Hog Roast Ilminster.
And just to put this to the test, over the May Day weekend we had a wonderful hen do to cater for. The perfect pre-amble to your wedding, one last weekend to revel in it with the girls before your special day. Our head chef Jack was delighted to speak to the hen who requested an exciting menu full of flavour. With it being barbecue season and a warm bank holiday weekend, Jack recommended our gourmet BBQ menu. Our own gourmet twist on the classic British barbecue, the gourmet menu brings all your favourites in unique Hog Roast Ilminster style. Handmade burgers, butcher’s sausages, marinated ribs, even our signature hog roast.
For the girls, it was a menu of BBQ pulled pork, cooked fresh and hand pulled from our namesake roast, along with Thai chicken kebabs and freshly grilled onions with cheese. As a veggie option, grilled veg and halloumi skewers and vegetarian sausages – all a perfect filler for a gluten-free roll or wrap. But of course, being a gourmet catering menu, we also had to have our sides, which included seasonal leafy greens, our chef’s own pasta salad, fresh chips with a medley of sweet and regular potato with salt, vinegar, and sauces.
This winning combination went down a treat with the hens. A perfect way to kick off their evening and send them off into a brilliant bank holiday weekend of fun. From all at Hog Roast Ilminster, our thanks to all 26 hens for welcoming us in and being such a fun bunch, and to the bride-to-be herself, a hearty congratulations when the big day comes.
