To close out the final weekend of June, the Hog Roast Bridport team were delighted to join a wonderful family event here in Bridport to celebrate a new christening. For many a family in the UK, the christening to welcome a new child or family member into the church is a huge occasion. It is one of deep value and importance, and certainly, then, one that deserves an excellent celebration to match.
So, of course, coming to Hog Roast Bridport for after-party catering was the only logical conclusion to make. Our head chef Jack was contacted some weeks back with a view to adding our catering to the christening celebration. We, of course, were all too happy to accept.
Banking on it being an excellent summer’s day (especially with the heatwaves of the last few weeks), our head chef figured that the best thing for the day would be our signature hog roast dining experience, complete with rolls, wraps, and plenty of sides for the perfect summertime lunch.
The christening began around midday. In that time, the Hog Roast Bridport team had our whole pig out on the roaster, allowing it plenty time to crisp up nicely and turn beautiful and tender inside, all thanks to the authentic hog roast cooking style. While our roast cooked, it was then to the sides and accompaniments. Our hog roast always comes with sage and onion stuffing, fresh apple sauce, and crispy crackling – a delicious by-product of the natural hog roasting process. For added summeriness in the menu, our hog roast rolls and wraps were then to be served with refreshing tomato and mozzarella salad, creamy slaw, mixed salad, and an assortment mix of regular and sweet potato fries. For a veggie alternative to our roast: grilled veg and halloumi skewers, made even better with our tangy sweet chilli sauce and creamy tzatziki dip.
All was ready to go by the 2pm serving time as we then set up our serving tent at the customer’s home, where the christening after-party was due to descend. Greeted by sunshine and a newly christened member of the family, it was a wonderful event with 80 guests loving our roasts and sides.
