This week another record breaking heatwave hits the UK. At Hog Roast Dorchester, we’ll be doing all we can for our events to keep guests cool and protected and our foods similarly so.
But at the weekend just past it was an altogether different story, as Head Chef Jack and the Hog Roast Dorchester team helped raise the heat some more for a wonderful family get together in Dorchester. Bringing out the hot spice rubs and smoky barbecue marinades of our southern slow roast menu, the Hog Roast Dorchester team catered an exceptional mid-afternoon meal for the family of 20, utilising every ounce of our quality with a slow roaster to produce a selection of meats that were as crisp and tender as they were hot and smoky!
Our southern slow roast menu is the counter to the classic British barbecue; where one is all about quick grilling and easy comfort, its American-inspired counterpart is all about cooking low and slow for many hours. It is born out of the American style of barbecue, where heat and smoky barbecue flavours come much more favoured. The Hog Roast Dorchester take on this American classic style of dining is excellent for a casual summer garden party amongst friends and family, as our guests of this past weekend certainly found.
For their dining pleasure: a meat selection of BBQ pork butt, Texas style 24 hour aged beef brisket, and Cajun spiced chicken thighs, all to be cooked low and slow for many hours to come to a perfect tenderness and a flavour well intensified. Our vegan alternative of BBQ pulled jackfruit provided a nice counter to all of this meat, and all was to be accompanied by a cooling Greek salad, buttered corn cobettes, and a mix of regular and sweet potato fries. With a selection of hot sauces and tangy barbecue sauces, including our legendary hickory bourbon BBQ sauce and a Cajun hot pepper sauce (for those willing to play with fire for their meal), it was a perfect menu for what ended up being a truly wonderful and intimate event for the whole family.
