In a year that has had a plentiful of ups and downs, we here at Hog Roast Verwood have lots to be thankful to still be here following our passion for you. So, then, when we started getting some calls about facilitating some thanksgiving dinners last month we were all too happy to oblige.
As you may well know, Thanksgiving is a primarily American holiday where friends and families come together just to enjoy each other’s company for yet another year, and of course great foods. If that doesn’t sound like a Hog Roast Verwood kind of event then I’m not sure what is! As it turns out, our dear American cousins love their roast foods just as much as us, making us the perfect call for Thanksgiving events around the area. Those that perhaps couldn’t quite make it home to America this year, such as Colin and his family and few American pals also here, were able to enjoy a nice little slice of Thanksgiving on us – though with a typically Hog Roast Verwood twist of course!
Thanksgiving dinners can be quite a lot like Christmas dinners here, though with a few additions that we were more than happy to deliver on. As the foods came out it is traditional for each person around the table to say what they are thankful for this year, which gave us ourselves a good moment for reflection too in a year where our customers have stood strong by us and kept us going, even in the harder times. We could not be more thankful for the support, and we will of course endeavour to keep doing our best to justify and reward that gracious support.
With thanks done, it was time for eating! Our catering manager had cooked up a huge feast – we know portions in America can be bigger so we made sure not to disappoint! Roast meats, roast veg, potatoes, mac and cheese, stuffing, and, of course, some pumpkin pie and ice cream to finish the meal off – if anyone still had room after the first round of course!
To our American cousins, a belated happy thanksgiving to you, and thank you for including us in your celebrations this year!
