Twin sisters, Cecilia and Maggie, celebrated their 80th birthday with a lively party last week, thanks to their loving family, who had gone above and beyond to plan an epic afternoon of fun and fab food for the duo! Providing the latter was Hog Roast Swanage’s catering crew who had been hired to deliver one of our splendid group dining solutions for all 150 guests who showed up to the event.
For Cecilia and Maggie, in particular, our presence was a real treat. In all of their 80 years, the twins had never tried a hog roast, so it was an honour for Hog Roast Swanage that our team was the one to change that!
Determined to give the birthday girls a feast to remember, our catering manager, Jack, had headed off to the function hall with the rest of the catering crew in tow in the early hours of the morning on the day of the event. It was shortly after 8 am when Hog Roast Swanage entered the venue, and with only a few hours to get everything ready in time for the guest’s arrival, they wasted no time in getting the grills switched on and the serving tables set up.
Our Hogmaster made light work of slow-roasting the full-size pig, thyme and sea-salt-seasoned free-range chickens and yummy vegetable kebabs, which were presented as a buffet with side salads, seasonal vegetables, coleslaw and roasted new potatoes. Each of the mains was also served with unique extras, for example, the hog roast included crackling, savoury onion stuffing and applesauce, meanwhile, the chicken dish featured fresh brown bread and butcher-style chipolata sausages.
We are delighted to say that this extensive menu went down a storm among the attendees, and with something tasty on offer for each and every one of them, nobody felt left out. But what you really want to know is: what did Cecilia and Maggie think of the hog roast, right?
