There’s something really special about being invited to cater someone’s big life moments. And at Hog Roast Chard, we never take that lightly.

Whether it’s a birthday, wedding, or retirement do, we know how much these occasions mean – and how stressful they can be to organise. That’s why we like to take a bit of that weight off your shoulders (and quietly handle the food side of things so you can actually enjoy yourself).
Because let’s be honest – hosting can be a lot. There’s always something to think about, something to check, someone to chase. Hog Roast Chard’s job is to step in and make at least one part of the day feel easy by offering proper, satisfying food that brings people together and makes them feel completely at ease.
We’re big believers that food sets the tone. It doesn’t matter if your event is laid-back or a bit more polished – we’ll shape the menu around you, not the other way round. It’s your celebration, after all.
A recent retirement party we catered was a perfect example of that. Around 100 guests gathered to celebrate someone finally clocking off for good – no more early alarms, no more deadlines. Just a well-earned chance to slow things down a bit. The brief? Keep it generous, comforting, and something everyone could get stuck into.
So, naturally, we brought along our signature hog roast.
It took hours to prepare, as it always does, but that’s part of the magic. By the time it was ready, the meat was incredibly tender – one of those where it just falls apart as you carve it. The crackling had that proper crunch to it too, the kind people always come back for “just a little bit more” of. And the stuffing? Packed with herbs, a bit crispy on the outside, soft in the middle – honestly, it didn’t hang around for long.

Guests piled everything into soft rolls and wraps, adding roasted baby new potatoes on the side. Meanwhile, Hog Roast Chard made sure there was plenty for everyone else too – grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs, flatbreads with tzatziki, and BBQ-pulled jackfruit buns that disappeared quicker than we expected.
By the end of it, people were full, happy, and properly settled into the celebration – which is exactly how it should be.
