Hog Roast Portsmouth was recently chosen to handle the catering for an 80th birthday party, which had been planned and put together by our client, Alison, on behalf of the golf-loving birthday boy! As such, Alison had chosen to host the event at the private Southsea Golf Club on Burrfields Road, where she had reserved a function hall for the special occasion.
When it came to the guest list, Alison had invited a number of people to join in the festivities, taking the total number of mouths to feed to 100, which was no trouble at all for our catering manager, Jack. In fact, Hog Roast Portsmouth regularly caters to events of a much larger scale, so helping Alison out with this celebration was set to be a total breeze.
First, Jack assisted the client with finding the most suitable menu for the event. This part didn’t take long at all as Alison immediately loved the sound of our Classic Hog Roast Menu, which promises an authentic hog roast experience, complete with a veggie/vegan option for the non-meat-eaters. She also loved the inclusion of side dishes, and from the choices available she had asked for our mixed salad, gourmet coleslaw, roasted baby potatoes and gluten-free rolls with butter. When it came to choosing the crockery, Alison opted for our wooden bamboo dining pieces with matching cutlery. After that, all there was left to do was wait for the date of the party to arrive.
On the last Saturday of February, Hog Roast Portsmouth made the short journey to the venue where they wasted no time in setting up the catering equipment, laying the tables and getting the hog cooking on the grill. They also set up the condiments, dips and sides in a way that was easily accessible for the guests to help themselves.
The hours of preparation came to a culmination at 9pm that evening, which was the time Alison had asked us to begin serving the meal. Right on cue, Hog Roast Portsmouth began carving up the hog roast, which they served to the hungry guests who had been eagerly awaiting to try the feast all day!
